Banda de Ipanema is always one of the highlights of Rio de Janeiro's Street Carnival. This Carnival Saturday the banda marched under the scorching sun of a perfect summer day.
Beach-goers soon joined in the fun, and over 10 thousand revelers partied like there was no tomorrow. There were many partiers with costumes that ranged from the traditional Cleopatra to creations beyond description.
A curiosity was a French sketch artist that portrayed in seconds the most colorful characters. A couple of Italian witches in traditional dress with loud wooden sandals were also impossible to miss.
Although the Banda is like a magnet to drag queens from all over the world, it is still a party where you can go with your family, and children, seniors, families and couples are pretty much part of the scene. Enjoy the photos!
