Ok, we agree you are not likely to come to Rio specifically to buy furniture or articles for your home. But then again, bringing back something that goes with your style and will remind you forever of your experience in Brazil is definitely worth considering.

There are some antique fairs in Rio where you may find interesting vintage stuff, from lamps to magazines. You don't even have to go that far, one of these events happens every Saturday at Shopping Casino Atlantico in Copacabana's Posto 6. The antique market at Gavea's Praca Santos Dumont is on Sundays.

If you have a little more time in your hands, Rua do Lavradio in the downtown area is worth a visit. There are a number of antique shops next to each other, and the variety is also attractive.

Feira Hippie, the Sunday market in Ipanema's Praca General Osorio, is another good source of articles that in way or another portray Rio and Brazil. And there are shops that cater specifically to visitors looking for souvenirs. There are smaller ones along A. Copacabana, and a few others scattered around Ipanema.

If you are looking for classy items, Rua Garcia D'Ávila is a good place to start. Elle et Lui Maison and H. Stern Home are not far from each other, and both carry articles that will catch your attention.
